Standard First Aid

Standard First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR (level C), and is designed to provide a more in depth understanding of first aid, including: legal implications; spinal injuries; heat or cold injuries; bone and joint injuries; chest injuries, and medical emergencies. The Standard First Aid course is a prerequisite for candidates registered in NLS, but this course is not restricted to aquatics candidates. It is available to the general public, and is a recommended certification for recreation, fitness, and camp personnel.

EVALUATION AND CERTIFICATION
Students must attend a minimum of 90% of class hours. If a student plans on not fully attending a course while still meeting the required minimum attendance percentage, they must inform the instructor and are responsible for catching up on any material missed during their absence.
Students are evaluated by a certified First Aid Instructor and Examiner. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of in-class evaluations and of the practical exam, and is valid for 24 months.
