National Lifeguard
Certification enabling individuals aged 17 and up to work as a lifeguard at a pool or as an assistant lifeguard at an aquatic facility; Prerquisite are Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid / AED or Aquatic Emergency Care / AED certifications, and must be at least 15 years old at the final exam (during the last course).

LIFEGUARD LEVEL
This certification enables individuals aged 17 and up to work as a lifeguard at a pool or as an assistant lifeguard at an aquatic facility.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Fundamentals of supervision in various aquatic settings: theory and practice lifeguarding, communication, rescuing victims and recognizing potential victims.
Decision-making skills, evaluation and ability to adapt to different situations and emergencies that may occur in aquatic settings.
EVALUATION AND CERTIFICATION
Students must attend a minimum of 90% of class hours. If a student plans on not fully attending a course while still meeting the required minimum attendance percentage, they must inform the instructor and are responsible for catching up on any material missed during their absence.
Students are evaluated by a certified Lifesaving Instructor and Lifesaving Examiner. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of in-class evaluations and of the practical exam, and is valid for 24 months.
CERTIFICATION
It is valid for 2 years if used for work purposes, or 4 years if not employed as a lifeguard.
NATIONAL LIFEGUARD RECERTIFICATION
Lifeguards who wish to continue working in an aquatic facility must have their National Lifeguard certification updated every 2 years by taking the recertification exam, which lasts last 4 hours and 30 minutes.
